Contacts Journal CRM App Reviews

Best CRM app I have used yet!

I love this app! All your contacts data in one location, drag and drop for files, app prompts you to add new contacts and maps them. Has a logs (notes) section, to do lists for each contact and can add to do lists to your calendar for you! For me personally, this app takes the place of 2 apps and eliminates customer files that are on my computer. Export and import features are so easy to use… Its simple, its fast and I dont see how it can get any better. Very well done!!!

Decent but unstable/oddly designed complement to iOS versions

As a metalayer / mini-CRM on top of your existing iCloud contacts Contacts Journal is best in class. Several months of iOS use between iPhone/iPad = flawless. Unfortunately the OS X version brings with it a few issues: 1) It crashes. A lot. Thankfully no data loss but an annoyance nonetheless. 2) Contacts added under iOS aren not recognized as added in OS X (thereby prompting you to add again and duplicating). 3) Text entry fields for Logs/etc are presented as slide-down dialog boxes vs OS X Notes style entry, consequently losing all text entered if the app crashes unexpectedly. 4) No way to force sync to iCloud, creating issues if you bounce between your Mac and iPhone/iPad and need to ensure data’s absolutely in sync. 5) It does not feel like a $50 app given limited features/capabilities/stability. iPad version’s $20, iPhone another $10. For folks looking to “collect all 3” it would be great to have an option for a discount when buying the OS X version. All this said, CJ has great potential to add more capabilities down the line, especially in the area of custom fields (which address many of the concerns for “I need a field that does X” posted by earlier reviews). While other Mac CRM’s like Daylite offer more advanced email integration/tagging across devices, CJ fits a critical niche in servicing small business, contractors, or anyone who wants to dip their toe in the CRM market without giving up the contacts lists they have already built up in their address book.

Good customer support

still has several features that need to be improved to be as easy to use as Apple Contacts. Has the potential to be way better though. Customer support is interested in making better.

terrific for academic purposes too!

My research is multi-sited involving extensive traveling! I can’t think of any other way I could’ve kept a record of all the people I have met (and continue to meet) and where I met them, PLUS specifics of every meeting except CJ! I was completely dependent on the iphone version of this app - and can’t be happier that a MAC version is now available, that too WITH syncing enabled! I don’t have to worry about contact names and numbers written on scraps of paper, behind book covers, on loose paper! CJ is responsible for keeping me and my work organized and is a *huge* help.

Starting my career in Real Estate

I just started my career in real estate sale and was looking for a good organizer for all of my meetings with clients and other associates, and it seems that I have found what I was looking for! It’s ease of use is really remarkable, and I only had to do a little bit of “homework” before hand as in clean up my current contacts from my iCloud account. I’ve been using it now for a few hours and I was able to start organizing my contacts, go into each contact and write in a journal style about what the conversations were about, and add certain things I needed to get done for each specific contact in the To-Do list. It added it right to my calendar, and I’m starting to feel more organized and productive by the minute! The only true fall back I have on this app as of right now is the syncing to iCloud feature for use with my iPhone and iPad. It works, but only after I close both apps, open them back up. It also has been having problems with the “Map” feature. This is a resourse I can really use in my line of work, but everytime I put a location in on my iPhone/iMac, it doesnt load properly when they since, which I said before, seems to be the main issue that I’m sure this is just a casulty of. Once the synced information is correct and accurate on both of my apps at the same time, and is synced after any new information is put in, it will be a wonderful app that I highly recommend.

Double entries

On February 19 I reported a problem with repeated contacts and gave the app a single star. I reported the problem to zaal. I was mildly surprised that they didn’t pass the problem onto Apple and began working on it immediately. They found a solution and emailed me the instructions. The apps now work perfectly and I am pleased enough to give this app five stars. I understand that people make mistakes. It’s how they recover that speaks to their integrity. I can’t say enough for these folks. Now…can someone tell me how to delete my old rating?

Finally a CRM I like!

I have been using the iOS versions of this application for a year and found it so appealing to use. I was so happy to see there is a Mac version now and didn’t hesitate to purchase it. I have not been disappointed. The iCloud syncing works great across my Mac, iPhone, and iPad and I find myself using this every day now that it is on my Mac. There is a little room for improvement on the tasks, but the development team is very prompt in replying to questions and assured me integration with my Reminders app is coming in the near future. Great application and great support makes me a happy customer since my last CRM became abandonware.

VERY Dissapointing

This really is a very poor CRM system, and an incredible waste of money. After buying it for my iPad I made the mistake of buying the grossly over-priced OSX version. I even talked with the company before buying it to reassure me I was getting my money’s worth, and none of the assurances materialized. In fact, I was even told to hurry up and buy it before they raised their “introductory price”. I should have run when they said that. You should run now.

Best thing since Act, shirt pockets and sliced bread

I used to use Act when I was forced to use a windows machine. It was excellent. I would put Contacts Journal on par. There are likely beels and whistles I used in Act by golly I ahve not found any. This does all I need; a real time history. There are a few things that would be good to have on the iphone ipad version and that would be mail that did not have ot go through installed mail. The company uses Outlook but you can work around it. It’s not like I am selling grass seed. I am in the capital goods and really use the history of a developing sale. The cycle is often quite long with many proposals back and forth. THANKS I LOVE IT

Like the iOS app, but

Ver 1.0 has lots and lots and lots and lots of bugs! I hope they get them squished soon. If they do this is a very nice app for CRM. Otherwise, too frustrating to get serious about using it. Also needs an option for list of files because the large thumbnail takes up too much space.

How To Have Mac and Ipad Happy

Ok. I purchased the Mac version and its ok.I then purchased the iPad version and I have the app. Do not know how to sync the two up with ICloud? And your support page really does not cover how to do this. Of course another option that you do show is dropbox. Help help help

Poor excuse for a CRM program

I bought this program, thinking that it would combine all of my contacts information in one place, but al it does is mimic. If I send an email, it has to be in this program, and it sends through Apple Mail. Otherwise, I have to drag an email that I sent into this program as a file. A real CRM program would search out the emails sent from another program, see who they went to and add tehm to that file. I have waisted my moeny on this. Please, don’t you do the same, until they make it what it should be.

Love this app

This app solved a problem for me trying to document interactions with contacts. I tried Evernote but it’s too unstructured and provided no way to export my data to a useful format. Contacts Journal CRM keeps my journal synced across devices with iCloud, I can search logs for words within a log, and provides a CSV export facility in case I need to export my data.

Crashes!

I have been using the App for two days, and have had numerous (perhaps 15) crashes. I am concerned, as I have only 70 contacts now, but will have hundreds within a year. I like the concept, however, and the simplicity is also nice. That being said, it has to work. Also, I know that the developer clearly mentions this, but the fact that you can’t log received email without manually dragging it over is, well, a drag. I hope that they keep on working on this, as with some more work, this can be a neat application. Well, since this review, I gave up. I bought a much more expensive application called Daylite. I couldn’t trust my data on Contacts Journal. Too many issues — and if I lost or couldn’t trust data, why have it? Sorry I had to give this review, but more sorry that I spent money on 3 versions (Mac/and 2 iOS versions). I wanted it to work.

Excellent CRM and Excellent Support

I am a long-time user of Contacts Journal for my iOS devices and was thrilled when they released a version for the Mac. I have been waiting for it for a long time. Like what other reviewers wrote, I used ACT at work on a Windows machine and really missed not having an equivalent app for my MacBook. CJ may not have all the bells and whistles of ACT but it is, by far, the best CRM I have found for an Apple machine. Recently, I ran into an issue where my iOS devices weren’t syncing with my Mac and it was throwing off my ability to update on any of my devices. I wrote Zaal and received a quick and detailed explanation of how to resolve the problem. It worked perfectly and I’m back in business. A great app with great support.

Very rough for the price.

Looked it over, downloaded Mac version and iPad version. Looks simple enough, but full of glitches. Absolute waste of (ALOT) of money.

Excellent App

I am using this app for a job search. The app is fabulous for taking detailed notes of networking meetings and also preparing specific to do items for each contact. The interface is very easy to learn, and the customer support is amazing. I had a few questions, and detailed responses always came back within a few hours. I tried another, far more expensive app on a trial basis, but it was too complicated. Contacts Journal has a simple interface and works seemlessly with my Macbook’s Calendar and Contacts apps, which is a huge plus because I never have to re-enter data. I am very happy with this app. A real winner!

Very Useful App

Although, I’ve been experienceing frequent crashes when trying to add a new private contact.

So much potential… but still great

Excellent interface and for the most part very easy to use. Unfortunately it has duplicated my contacts x6 and its difficult sometimes to find the one account I’ve been keeping all my notes in. Mobile version is awesome, but the computer version crashes at least once a day, but I havent lost data yet… computer version also slows down my computer incredibly. I’ve even had to force a restart on the computer because the program has locked up the OS. Online access would be nice, so I could access the info from any computer. despite all the issues, I still love the program and will continue to use it. I’m sure they’ll get all the kinks worked out. Would be 5 stars if things ran more smoothly and provided a service to merge duplicate info. Would also like the ability to search for contacts within a pre-determined radius (other than my own location)

Exactly Like the iOS app

This app is exactly like the iOS app - no extra features. Which is very disappointing considering that it is 10 times the cost. If you are expecting something more, dont. Its not going to be there. Very slim and trim app.
